Pointer

The English Pointer as we know it today was pieced together from Foxhounds, Bloodhounds, Greyhounds, and various setters over roughly 300 years, engineered specifically for the nose-and-speed combination bird hunters wanted.

The classic pointing behavior is entirely instinctual; puppies as young as eight weeks old will frozenly point their bodies toward birds without any formal training.

The Pointer is named for its instinct to 'point' toward game.
